EDIT: Despite the opinions of some people; the only photoshopped part of this image is the watermark. To take these images; I used a long exposure to capture several strikes into one image. I was perfectly safe at the time, My telephoto lens allowed me to capture the image from a safe distance. Also; the colour of the strike is due to the evaporated eucalyptus oil in the air released by the hectares and hectares of gum trees both on that ridge and beyond. It's called Australia people. Also... about the rule 'lightning never strikes the same place twice'. This is false. You only have to look at the lightning strike statistics of buildings such as the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty to understand this.
Ok I had my doubts with the first one, but this one just confirms it. First. Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. Second, it doesn't strike through clouds like that. Thrid according to the last pic, you got soaked after, so that means the core should of been moving toward you. You can't take pics of storm clouds and generate lightning through them. It makes for a nice sppoky background and great photoshopping, but Ive been photographing lightning for 15+ years lol.. Very nice work though. This would make an awesome premade!
1. The phrase 'Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice' is a METAPHOR. It does not carry any scientific proof in relevance to lightning. It refers to the ideology that things don't happen to people twice in the exact same way. Lightning OBVIOUSLY strikes the same place more than once. Look at the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. I'm using American examples cause I thought they'd be a little more obvious to you than examples from other places. 2. Once again about the lightning not striking through clouds... 3. Because the only direction the storm could have been going was TOWARDS me. 4. There is NO. PHOTOSHOPPING. The only thing generated digitally was the watermark. 5. Who says 'LOL' after talking about their credentials? I'm sorry; but you REALLY don't seem that old, and I'd rather do what I was doing and listen to my uncle who has been doing photography for 36 years than listen to you. 6. Lightning is always that colour. The colour is slightly different lower down due to the evaporated eucalyptus oil in the air.
